How do people find native plants for their garden? Here is a great article on just that. One more thing to keep in mind is to make sure the source of your plants in NOT digging/stealing them from the wild, but is propagating the plants themselves. Stolen plants are now becoming a big and dangerous problem for many of the rarer plants. Check out your sources before you buy so you too don't become part of the problem. Also I have included a link to the Lady Bird Johnson site where you can search for good places to buy, (sadly the link in the article is no good). I like to buy as many of my plants as seed. That way I know that the plants themselves have not been stolen from their native environment.

Declining Butterflies, have you noticed a difference where you live?
Sad to say, but I have up here in Northern Maine. This year I have only seen 2 swallowtail and 3 monarchs, and they were small. Read the article here from the Washington Post.

Dangerous Invasive Plant <- Link to article
Boy! This is a nasty invasive plant, if there ever was one! Be on the lookout for it in the Northeast and Northwest parts of the US and north of there into Canada. After reading the article check it out on the USDA Plant Profile page
